Self improvement is first and formost a question of self awareness. Your awareness of your need for it is a step in the clear direction. Most people believe that self improvement is simply a matter of reading and reading volumes and volumes of books. Somethings in this world you need the University of life as stated by a former britsih prime minister.

My suggestions to you are 1. engage in strategic conversations with the relevant people - remember the state of a mans mind is as much a fact as the state of his digestion. 2. Attend good conferences, seminars and workshops not just in the legal profession but in others as well. 3. Network effectively. An organization like BNI meaning Business Network International www.bni-ng.com or www.bni.com would prove most invaluable to you. 4. Read widely - little at a time - books, magazines, journals, etc. 5. Cut down on movies and watch more of CNN, BBC,  NatGeo Wild, and documentaries 6. Keep good company, people that can build you up. 7. Never get tired of asking. 7. Never stop improving your self.
