Chris, the first thing you need to do is to carry out an exhaustive analysis of your business. You need to critically ask and find out whether you actually need additional capital? if you really do, then the next thing is can you free some of your working capital through your business realignment. Can you outsource, dispose of some assets, cut operational costs or simply do some synergy?
If the above are not feasible or sufficient, then go to the next step.
List all your contacts by way of family and friends. Can they become partners in your venture by you selling part of your holdings in order to raise additional equity. Venure capital is easy to pronouse but difficult to raise. Reason been that each investor is first and formost interested in the safety of his funds. They do not know you and thier judgement of you and your business is based on your presentations, plans, projections and results over the years. So if you hope to raise funds from others are you saleable and bankable. Can a third party take a look at you and your business and see clear evidence of managment, produce and professionalism. No matter the size of your business incorporate these principles, they are the light to funds, investments and growth.
Regards.
