Mentoring: How It Works for Entrepreneurs
Step 1: Create Your Entrepreneur Profile
Your Entrepreneur Profile describes your business or business idea, as well as your knowledge of foreign languages, to potential mentors. It is helpful to be as specific as possible in order to help mentors, supporters and like-minded entrepreneurs get a sense of your business venture.
Here's an example:
Step 2: Get Answers to Your Questions
There are 2 ways through which you can seek support for your business and career challenges or opportunities:
-
You can create a request that clearly outlines your business challenge and goals for your mentoring relationship: http://www.imagine-network.org/mentoring/post-request.
- The title for your mentor request should specify what kind of business expertise you are seeking so that mentors can quickly understand if their business experience is relevant and helpful to your challenge.
- Mentor requests are searchable directly by available supporters, as well as suggested to them by INN based on their industry and business expertise. Mentors have 20 days to respond to your offer.
- You can also get answers to business questions through the Q&A section of ImagineNations Network: http://www.imagine-network.org/questions/index
- This section is designed for the global and local communities to respond to targeted questions and can be a great resource for you if you don’t need a business mentor.
Step 3: Connect with Your Mentor
Once a mentor responds to your request, you’ll receive a message notification.
Step 4: Make the Most out of the Mentoring Experience
- Introduce yourself and ask questions to get to know your mentor
- Offer additional specifics to the mentor request and mentor goals
- Be patient and continue to ask questions to enable your mentor to help you with your business or career questions
